I used to wear a tux tee in high school. I can say this now because it was just a few years ago that I realized that my favorite t-shirt had come back and gone main stream. I will give credit for this pleasant turn of events to Blake Lewis for wearing a tuxedo t-shirt on stage while appearing on American Idol. I would also like to acknowledge a classic quote from Cal in Talledaga Nights - "I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-Shirt because it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party". I have also seen more teams using them as uniforms like Philly did or Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins in the X Games. These are all examples of how main stream this shirt has gone. The classic tuxedo tee has gone from gag gift to fashion statement in just a few short years.

Is it ok to wear one of these to a job interview? Probably not. But it does appear to be socially acceptable to wear it to any given party. If you wear a suit jacket over top I submit this is now suitable for a wedding or any other very formal affair. I have seen these used for bands, baseball teams, grand openings, anniversary parties,and even to meet penguins. Many people still wear them to get a laugh but many of us (me included of course) just like the way they look.So if you have to be formal but you want to say I am here to party get yourself a tuxedo t shirt and let your hair down.

On the average we can expect a couple of invitations for black tie events throughout the year. Not only do we get invites, but on some occasions we are rather oblige to attend, leaving us with no choice. Examples of black tie events are dinners, dates, parties, reunions, dances, weddings, etc. They are also quite common during holiday seasons.

Now on to the tuxedo; should you buy one or not? Well, if you anticipate attending a number of black tie events within a year, buying your own is a wise idea.

If you're buying, be on the lookout for tuxedo sales and get a good discount. Choose the wool type over the synthetic ones. Wool gives the shine and elegance of a suit. The quality of wool also varies, from super 100s to super 140s. Tuxedos made from the combination wool and polyester fabrics are cheaper still durable.

It may cost around $100 or less but consider it a sound investment if you're wearing tux more than 3 times a year. Anyway, you don't wear tuxedos everyday or even every other day for that matter. Just have it dry clean after the occasion and tucked it safely on your wardrobe until the next occasion. If you're in a budget, of course, you can always rent one, especially if you're going to attend just one or two formal events within a year.

The term "black tie" on black tie events doesn't literally mean black necktie. You wear a bow tie instead. There are other colors for bow tie of course, but black is for formal functions. For semi-formal events, you can wear necktie instead of a bow tie.

The white shirt underneath can be just plain simple, collared shirt with cuffs. Cummerbunds are worn instead of belt. Don't forget black socks and black leather shoes polished shine.

If you want to stand out, you can boost your formal attire by wearing a few accessories -cufflinks, wristwatch, ring, etc. For formal events, silver toned accessories are best. You only wear gold accessories if you're wearing shaded brown suit.

- Remember to practice your best man toast, until you know it by heart. The first toast should compliment the bride while offering your best wishes on their new life as a couple. Keep in mind that this moment in time is short, so take a deep breath and practice your good humor, in case any of your friends want to razz you a bit since you have the stage of attention. A traditional black tuxedo would be perfectly appropriate. I would recommend a single breasted jacket at the suit length (no coattails). Because it is an afternoon wedding, I would recommend a vest and tie rather than a bowtie and cummerbund or ascot.

As for colors, you may want to put the guys all in claret-colored vests (and potentially having the groom's with a pattern and the groomsmen without) or you may want to have the groom's vest in ivory and the groomsmen in claret. Go to your local tuxedo shop and play around with various combinations until you find one you like the best.

Yes, I think having the ties be the same color would be ideal. However, you may want to have a little pattern on either the vest or the tie using the same colors to jazz it up a little. Personally, I like the look of the patterned vests with solid color ties but that is just me. Any combination would be appropriate.

I think the blush shoes would be lovely with your dress, especially since it has blush accents. Bridal shoes can be as fun and formal as the bride likes it is entirely up to her discretion. Some brides wear flip-flops, sneakers, combat boots, etc. under their dresses. I had a white wedding dress with beading all over it, giving it a very sparkly appearance.

My wedding colors were silver/platinum and baby blue. I chose light silver colored shoes because I really liked the shoes and I thought they went well with the sparkly aspect of my dress (not to mention were in our wedding colors). So feel free to get the shoes.
